Staff/Senior Mechanical Engineer (Simulation and Modeling) – 66366 / 66991
(Singapore – Yio Chu Kang)
Responsibilities:
* The Simulation and Mechanical Technology Group SMTG delivers mechanical technologies needed to enable Mobile Device’s next-generation iconic phone designs, and to ensure their excellent structural and thermal performance. It is responsible for directing the creation of electronic packaging architecture, creating a vision for product lines, plan road maps, and align technology development to meet product/customer needs. SMTG targets high-value problems and accelerates the availability of enabling solutions for these problems, by creating the necessary technology and by collaborating with the product integration groups. Our goal is to transition nascent technologies from inception, through feasibility, and final certification, particularly, simulation technologies to a product-ready level of maturity, in time to give Motorola a competitive advantage in the marketplace. This position involves identifying and exploring novel solutions for current and future mechanical problems as they pertain to the cellular phone. Once identified, these advanced simulation methods and technologies are brought to sufficient maturity and then transferred to worldwide product integration groups for the planned product realization.
* You will lead the technical community in creating “out of the box†solutions, and is expected to explore new concepts/solutions in mechanical simulation, and skillfully integrate business needs into technical activities. You will work with product development and external vendors to integrate, design, evaluate, and implement appropriate features to enhance robustness and reliability mobile-phone product. You will conduct CAD/FEA simulation with respect to structural (both static and dynamic) and thermal simulation. You will be involved in the development of prototypes, experimental testing of prototypes, simulation of these prototype concepts, and interpretation of the results. You are expected to draw proper technical conclusions and make appropriate recommendations to management and in effecting this vision you will work closely with the other technology groups within the Mobile Devices business, Motorola, and external to it to enhance capability and reduce cycle time. You will provide mentorship to junior engineers in CAE modeling and result interpretations.
Requirements:
* Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Master’s Degree or Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering (Mechanical), Engineering (Computer/Telecommunication), Engineering (Others) or equivalent.
* Required skill(s): Mechanical Simulation, Modelling.
* At least 9 year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.
* Applicants must be willing to work in Yio Chu Kang.
* Applicants should be Malaysian, Singaporean citizens or hold relevant residence status.
* Preferably Managers specializing in Engineering – Mechanical Simulation or equivalent.
* Be innovative and possess significant technical expertise in one or more of the following topics as they relate to cellular handsets: electronic packaging, injection molding plastics, sheet metal, impact analysis, materials technology, structural and thermal engineering, experimental techniques, latest FEA techniques with respect to structural (both static and dynamic) and thermal simulation.
* Working knowledge of tools like ProE, Abaqus, ADAMS, Ansys suite including LS-Dyna, Altair-suite including Hypermesh, meshing including adaptive meshing and parametric meshing, cleaning CAD, comprehensive post processing.
* Knowledge in stochastic simulation, Pro/E, ProMechanica and general mechanical makeup/construction/layout of cellular products is advantageous.
