At the national conference of lawyers held in 1992 under the auspices of the Bangladesh Bar Council, the idea of establishing an organisation for providing legal aid and its proposed structure was mooted. Later, in pursuance of this idea, certain steps were taken for establishing a legal aid organisation as a non-profit Trust under the name of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST). On 29 May 1993, BLAST was incorporated with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies of the Government of Bangladesh as a company limited by guarantee and in the same year on 19 December 1993 it was registered as an NGO with the NGO Affairs Bureau.
BANGLADESH LEGAL AID AND SERVICES TRUST (BLAST)
A leading non government organization, with 24 field offices, is looking for suitable professionals for the following positions for its Head Office at Dhaka.
Senior Staff Lawyer ( PIL )
(Dhaka)
Responsibilities:
- S/he will have to spend 25% times in the field outside Dhaka.
- The person will have to work with different stakeholders including lawyers, decision makers, lawmakers, partners, civil society organizations, and grass-root people.
- S/he will draft the petitions to file PIL cases and also conduct the research for advocacy and PIL issues.
Requirements:
- Honour’s, Master’s degree in Law
- 5 years’ experience in drafting and filing cases (High Court)
- Have experience in networking with different sectors, segments, groups, communities, associations and bodies
- Experience in facts finding and documentation regarding Advocacy and PIL issues
- Initiating legal research regarding Advocacy and PIL issues
- Computer literacy.
- Full-Time positions available.
- Applicants should be Bangladesh citizens or hold relevant residence status.
Salary : Gross Salary 17,696.00 taka per month.
